Understanding your options
Platelet-rich plasma, known as PRP, is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. The platelet-rich portion is concentrated and placed into targeted areas of the scalp.
PRP may help support follicle health and hair growth in suitable types of hair loss. Because hair loss has many possible causes, treatment starts with a medical assessment rather than a procedure.
Is it right for you?
PRP is not the right answer for every person or every type of hair loss. A consultation helps determine what is driving the change and what may help.
PRP may be considered when follicles are still active, often in earlier or moderate stages of pattern hair loss.
Sudden or widespread shedding may need further investigation before any treatment is recommended.
Your medicines, nutrition, hormones, medical history and scalp health can all be relevant to the assessment.
If PRP is suitable, the recommended number and timing of sessions will be personalised to you.
Your care journey
We discuss your pattern of hair loss, health history, medicines, family history and goals, followed by a scalp assessment.
Blood tests or further assessment may be recommended when they can help identify an underlying factor.
If PRP is appropriate, your treatment schedule and follow-up are planned around your individual findings.
What to expect
PRP is performed using your own blood. A sample is collected, processed to concentrate the platelets, and then placed into selected areas of the scalp.
Some temporary tenderness, redness or swelling may occur. The recommended treatment course, recovery guidance and review timing will be explained before you decide to proceed.
Treatment suitability and likely outcomes differ from person to person. Results cannot be guaranteed and will be discussed during your medical consultation.

Common questions
No. Different forms of hair loss have different causes and treatments. Dr Peer will assess your pattern and wider health before discussing whether PRP is appropriate.
There is no single schedule for everyone. The number and timing of sessions depend on your assessment, response and treatment goals.
Hair growth follows a slow biological cycle, so any change takes time and varies between people. Your progress can be reviewed over the course of treatment.
Sometimes. A broader plan may include medical or lifestyle measures where appropriate. Any combination should follow a clinical assessment.
