Understanding your options
PRP uses a concentrated preparation of platelets from your own blood. These platelets are placed into a selected area to support the body’s repair response.
It may be considered for certain ongoing tendon problems, ligament injuries and joint concerns. The evidence and likely benefit differ by condition, so careful diagnosis and patient selection matter.
Is it right for you?
Pain can have many causes. PRP is considered only after your history, examination and any useful imaging have clarified the concern.
PRP may be considered for selected persistent tendon problems when the diagnosis and stage of injury support its use.
Some joint conditions may be suitable for PRP as part of a wider care plan, depending on severity and your overall health.
Existing scans are reviewed and ultrasound may be used when it adds diagnostic clarity or helps guide treatment.
PRP does not replace appropriate rehabilitation, load management or specialist orthopaedic care when those are needed.
Your care journey
We review the history of the problem, examine the area and discuss how it affects your movement, work or activity.
Previous imaging is considered. Ultrasound or another investigation is chosen only when it can meaningfully guide care.
If PRP is appropriate, the procedure, aftercare, rehabilitation and follow-up plan are explained clearly.
What to expect
A small blood sample is processed to prepare the platelet-rich portion. It is then injected into the selected tissue, with ultrasound guidance where this is clinically appropriate.
Temporary soreness can occur after an injection. Activity guidance and the timing of rehabilitation will depend on the area treated and your individual circumstances.
Treatment suitability and likely outcomes differ from person to person. Results cannot be guaranteed and will be discussed during your medical consultation.

Common questions
PRP may be considered for selected tendon, ligament and joint concerns. Suitability depends on an accurate diagnosis, the stage of the condition and your broader health.
Ultrasound can help visualise certain tissues and guide accurate placement where clinically useful. It is not required for every procedure.
Recovery differs according to the area treated and the nature of the problem. You will receive guidance on activity and rehabilitation for your situation.
This varies by condition and response. Dr Peer will discuss a suitable plan after assessment rather than prescribing a standard course for everyone.
